We decided to enter the 10k in Dubai which was a part of the world's richest marathon. The marathon winner, Ethiopia's Haile Gebrselassie scored the purse of $250K, but he failed to beat the world record. He currently holds the record for 2hs; 4mins & some secs. The sad thing is that there was offering of the sheik (ruler) of Dubai of a $1 mil bonus, if he broke the record, but he came up 27 secs short; that means he needed to be one sec faster each mile. The 10K course was flat and featured the latest sights in Dubai: construction :(. At one point there was also a gazelle running on the course. I guess you can see about anything in the Middle East.
